Workshops

Multiple month-long workshops are offered throughout the year for drumming and dance and include specialized styles such as fire spinning, Orixa Dance Movement, and Malandro (Male) style Samba. All drum workshop participants are encouraged to join the Samba Fogo Bateria, to continue to learn the rhythms and grooves of Brazil for free and perform with us. Check out our CALENDAR to see upcoming workshops.

I giggle to myself as I remember each instant I tried so hard to make my drum meet the rhythm of everyone else. It’s easy to be the best me I can be when everywhere I look I see people who are laughing and working hard.

Kids Camps – Samba Criança

Summer kids’ camps are offered every year and are wildly popular. Young students from all over the Wasatch Front participate in these fun and inspiring camps. Students learn hands-on Brazilian drumming, dance, song and folklore, creating a final performance for friends and family on the final day of the camp.

For the young, playing music together is a way of deeply interacting with one another, evoking a devotion to excellence, the discipline of working together and the interdependence between sections, voices and instruments.
