Arts Education and Outreach

Samba Fogo schedules arts residencies and guest classes in various schools and programs throughout the year. Residencies can feature Brazilian and Afro-Brazilian drumming, dance, song, and/or creative movement, depending on the interest and budget of each school. Many residencies culminate in a final student performance. Please CONTACT US to inquire about educational outreach options and rates.

For Learning

By integrating hands-on cultural arts with curriculum, students learn through research-based teaching practices that address diverse learning styles and nurture creativity.

For Success

Students develop personal, social and intellectual skills while they learn to work and “play” together in an ensemble. Students learn to cooperate and achieve success as one.

For Community

Students connect more fully to their classmates as they engage with exciting cultural content and gain a global perspective.

For the young, playing music together is a way of deeply interacting with one another, evoking a devotion to excellence, the discipline of working together, and the interdependence between sections, voices and instruments.

“I giggle to myself as I remember each instant I tried so hard to make my drum meet the rhythm of everyone else. It’s easy to be the best me I can be when everywhere I look I see people who are laughing and working hard.

Samba Fogo is a wonderful partner to work with, we met before hand to discuss goals, objectives, hopes, and scheduling and they were attentive, flexible and excited to do what’s best for our students. It was truly a joy to work with them.
